Councillors will emerge in Newly created wards–OGSEIC

​It has been confirmed that election will hold in new wards created by Ogun State Independent electoral commission and Councillors will emerge from those wards on October 8, 2016 in the election into Local government areas and local council development areas . Those new wards will be soon announced by the electoral commission.
Newspaper Online confirmed this information today When Our editor was speaking with Commissioner III of the commission, Barr. Mutiu Agboke around 8:41 a.m. Agboke said the new wards would be soon announced for the public by Ogun State Independent electoral commission. Asked further that if election are going to be conducted in those, Agboke said nothing would stop the election from being conducted.

Ogun State Independent electoral commission had at the end of last year, included it in their 2016 budget that more wards and Local Council development areas would be created.

Presently, Ogun State has 236 wards across the 20 Local government areas and Local Council development areas.

Our correspondent gathered yesterday that as a result of this new development, party people and community leaders were jubilating yesterday as the news of new wards got the town. People were dancing and singing in some joints in Abeokuta, in anticipation of waiting for the announcement of Ogun State Independent electoral commission.

Consequently, the commission has invited the public to apply for the adhoc staff that will conduct the election. The commission said only Civil Servant from level 14 to 16 will be considered for the electoral officers while Presiding officers, poll clerks and others are opened for anyone.
