The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye has disclosed that quackery in the health sector would soon be a thing of the past in the State as records show its prevalent in the Ado-Odo/Ota and Ifo axis than other part of the State.
Dr Ipaye who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, said the re-validation and registration exercise of all private health facilities in the State showed that Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo and Akute axis have high rate of quackery.
Ipaye said following reports from citizens of the State and the case of dead pregnant women, two facilities were shut down in Ifo, adding that a total of 68 health facilities had been shut down in Abeokuta South, Ewekore, Imeko Afon, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Ijebu North, Ijebu-Ode and Ifo Local Government Areas of the State.
‘’Qualitative health care services in both private and government health facilities henceforth will not be compromised by this government. The State Ministry will ensure close monitoring of all health facilities every three month in order to reduce if not wipe out completely quackery in the State health sector’’ Ipaye said.
