Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution that will give opportunities and equal treatment to the physically challenged people in the society with a view to encourage public and private sectors to accord them the required recognition to achieve their aspirations in life.
Opening debate on the motion, the sponsor, Hon. OlujimiOtukoya, sought for architectural design and implementation of physical structures that would be favourable for easy movement of the physically challenged around the state as well as giving them equal opportunities for political appointments.
In their contributions, the lawmakers including Deputy Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, Minority Leader, Wale Alausa, Chief Whip, Idowu Olowofuja, as well as Honourables Tunde Sanusi, Olayiwola Ojodu, Akinpelu Aina, Adebiyi Adeleye, Adebowale Viwanu Ojo and Ganiyu Oyedeji canvassed for reservation of some quotas for people with special needs in terms of employment, academic enrolment and political appointments amongst others.
The House Resolution titled “HR No 043/ 2016- Provision of Opportunities and Equal Treatment for Physically Challenged People in the Society “, seeks for due regard and respect for the physically challenged in order for them to harness their full potentials.
The motion for the passage of the resolution was moved by Hon. Olujimi Otukoya, seconded by Hon. Jemili Akingbade and supported by the House.
