The proposed Secretariat of Ijebu North Central LCDA received an unexpected notorious gang who destroyed part of the buildings meant to shelter the newly sworn Executive Chairman Hon Adefisan Adesola and his team.The building which was under renovation to accommodate the council officials was said to be costing about 250,000 naira as at the time of destruction.
According to a source who declined to tell amebohotnews his name, he said there have been a silent hullabaloo and eventual confrontation between the Oba of Oru against the Obas of Awa, Ilaporu and Alh Banjo (a community leader) over the location of the Secretariat. He said the trio above agreed to have the Secretariat on the land that belongs to the three communities Oru, Awa and Ilaporu which has already been structured as the area office of the then almagamated Ijebu North Local Government.
Another source who spoke on a condition anonymous said the Oba of Oru called a meeting on Sunday (yesterday) at the town hall that he has gotten an approval to have the Secretariat situated at the Old refugee land. What we say this morning (Monday) is what you have seen, he concluded but we believed the Oba has a hand in this destruction.
Amebohotnews correspondent tried reaching the Kabiyesi for his side of the crises but heard he travelled on an emergency, call put across were not connecting.
An elder who also spoke with our correspondence said we can not say the Oba knows about it but I can assure you we will get to the root of the matter, either the location is the area council or the old refugee camp, the state government will decide that.
As at press time, the Chairman of the LCDA Hon Sola Adefisan said investigation into the demolition of the ongoing construction will be carried out has he has forwarded the pictures conveying the scene of the demolition to the appropriate quarters.
