Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed sadness on the death of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe and renowned Nigerian author, Elechi Amadi.
According to the release from.the office of the senior special assistant on media Mr Soyinka, the governor expressed shock at news of the death of the two great Nigerians both of whom died on Wednesday, June 29. Maduekwe died, aged 71 while Amadi was aged 82.
Describing the late Minister as one politician who plays politics without bitterness, Amosun said “Chief Maduekwe was a patriot who served Nigeria in different capacities, at different times and to the best of his ability.”
In the same vein, Governor Amosun said Nigeria also suffered a huge loss in the death of Elechi Amadi, the renowned novelist and literary icon.
Amosun described the late Amadi as “a literary giant and patriot who contributed in no small measure to the development of Nigeria and indeed, Africa through his literary works.”
While praying that God grants the families of the two departed great Nigerians the fortitude to bear the loss, Governor Amosun added that, “they will be sorely missed at this critical stage in the socio-political development of Nigeria.”
