Ogun State commissioner for health Dr Babatunde Ipaye celebrated his birthday yesterday at Molusi College Hall, Ijebu Igbo where through his foundation tagged Ajoke Ipaye foundation gave out Scholarship to five new exceptionally brilliant students of Ijebu Igbo indigent with a presentation of cheques ranging from 100,000 to 250,000 naira respectively. Ipaye also gave out cheques ranging from 150,000 to 300,000 to beneficiaries of his scholarship who had been in various citadel of higher learning.
Babatunde Ipaye rendered free medical services to the constituents of Ijebu Igbo also in commemoration of his day which was strategically located at Obada market, Abusi Edumare Academy and Molusi College with free drugs.
In his speech the Commissioner could not hide his joy as he recalled his days at Beje High School Ijebu Igbo where he also received a scholarship to study medicine and surgery at Ogun State University having won the best overall result in WASSCE with seven distinctions. He appreciated all participants who graced the occasion from all works of life.
The hall which was filled to agog had a keenly contested mathematics quiz competition among senior and junior secondary schools. Winners were presented with prizes, certificate of participation and a token of 5,000 naira each for transportation.
Some of the beneficiaries of the scholarship are; Adeyoriju Folake, Yusuf Saheed, Rabiu Oluwafemi, Adetayo Adeyemi, Tiamiyu Olalekan. Dignitaries present includes; Prof Mrs Ogungbe, Mrs Ipaye, Dr Osibamowo, Alhaja Odusote, Mrs Fowosire, Deacon Jayesimi, Mr Adekanmbi Adegoke (former regional manager Afri Bank) ,Hon Alh Ayinde Sulaiman, Mr Adeola, Staff of Ogun Health Board, Mathematics association executives and many others
