World Malaria Day; Ogun records lesser Patients–Ipaye

The Honourable Commissioner for health Ogun State, Dr Babatunde Ipaye has expressed satisfaction on the progress recorded in reducing high rate of malaria diagnosis in the State.

Speaking at Abeokuta, Dr Ipaye said people are now reawakened on the efficacy of making use of insecticide nets.

The Ijebu Igbo born Commissioner further stated that Ogun State has intensified efforts towards towards ensuring every home has the insecticide nets, he said over 1.2m nets have been distributed in Ogun which have resulted in the less numeric data of malaria patients in our health facilities.

“We have ensured distribution of free Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs), distribution of Sulphadoxize Pyrimethamize (SP) drugs for prevention of malaria among pregnant women and free testing and distribution of free antimalarial drugs to all primary health facilities in the State”

He enjoined the people of Ogun State not to use the insecticide nets for fishing, window nets or any other domestic use except for its primary motive. Prevention is better than cure so I am pleading with our people to ensure that we make our state free of malaria; these nets are the safest in ensuring we are malaria free, he submitted.
