The bitter political war between Senator Buruji Kashamu and Hon. Ladi Adebutu has taken a frightening dimension. We gathered that the two PDP chieftains from Ogun State are no longer in speaking terms and avoid each other in public this is unconnected with the 2019 gubernatorial ambition of the duo.
What went wrong between the duo who are both from Ogun East Senatorial District of Ogun State? Those in the know squealed that the PDP in the state has zoned the governorship to Ogun East Senatorial District and both politicians are interested in becoming the next governor of Ogun State. Though Kashamu hasn’t officially throw in the towel but sources and body language indicates his readiness.
We gathered that Senator Kashamu has already started his strategic political move for the guber race as he hosted all the co-ordinators of his group the PDP, Omo Ilu Foundation on January 17, 2016 where he gave all the local government area co-ordinators cars and buses for the political battle ahead.
Those who attended the meeting at the Goodluck Jonathan Political Centre in Ijebu-Ugbo confessed to us that the senator is financially ready for the governorship race and he is ready to take anybody within the PDP.
On the day of the empowerment he claimed that he opened offices in other senatorial districts because of being the only PDP Senator but this statement was jettisoned by some who said he opened it because of the gubernatorial ambition. “Who is he deceiving?” a sourse who doesn’t want his name in print queried.
Be that as it may, Hon. Ladi Adebutu is the son of Chief Kessington Adebutu popularly known as Baba Ijebu and one of the richest men in Ogun State. Sources said Hon. Ladi is banking on his father’s wealth and contact to defeat anybody that comes up within the PDP to challenge him for the governorship ticket. Besides, the youths of Ogun State are supporting him. Some PDP members are afraid that Senator Kashamu is too wealthy and may not be controllable if he becomes the governor of Ogun State.
Though some moves and utterances by the Senator in his support for Buhari and his message to Tinubu immediately after the general elections has made many reading the moves of the Senator suggesting that he could be heading to APC to achieve his ambition; he might want to use the executives and strong followers of the party to negotiate in APC.
It is also reliably gathered that Hon Ladi had started his consultation in earnest even among APC big wigs in the State, which could be pointing to a single fact he might be heading to APC as well.
But will APC accept them? Will Yayist and Yewa Agenda Movement fold their arms? Will Yewa indegines in PDP accept this ambition from Ogun East? Will GNI and his Apostles chant thus creed? Time is fast tickling as we fold pur arms and upadate you.
